PARLIAMENT IS NOT AN ASSEMBLY OF FIGHTERS TO SERVE INDIVIDUAL INTERESTS:- Seeing and judging how meanly our leaders and representatives in Parliament or state Assemblies sometimes behave and kill precious time to drive their point at the cost of exchequer It reminds one of a famous statement made by that great orator and statesman Edmund Burke to the voters of Bristol in England as early as early as in the year 1774. “PARLIAMENT IS NOT A CONGRESS OF AMBASSADORS FROM DIFFERENT AND HOSTILE INTERESTS; WHICH EACH MUST MAINTAIN, AS AN AGENT AND ADVOCATE, AGAINST OTHER AGENTS AND ADVOCATES; BUT PARLIAMENT IS A DELIBERATIVE ASSEMBLY OF ONE NATION, WITH ONE INTEREST, THAT OF THE WHOLE; WHERE NOT LOCAL PURPOSES, NOT LOCAL PREJUDICES OUGHT TO GUIDE, BUT THE GENERAL GUIDE, RESULTING FROM THE GENERAL REASON OF THE WHOLE. YOU CHOoSE A MEMBER INDEED; BUT WHEN YOU HAVE CHOSEN HIM HE IS NOT MEMBER OF BRISTOL; BUT HE IS A MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT.
